Having proved his mettle with a handful of films in Malayalam, actor Dev Mohan will be seen as king Dushyant in the upcoming mythological drama Shakuntalam starring Samantha and directed by Gunasekhar.
Shakuntalam is my first film in another language, and it’s a blessing that I got the opportunity to debut with such a massive project. Working for the film has been a great experience,” says the actor in an interview.
He reveals that he had to prepare a lot for his part and underwent extensive training in horse riding & sword fighting before taking part in the shooting.
“The rigorous training helped me portray the challenging character. I could understand the nuances and the body language needed for the character at the training and adapted to it,” says the actor.
Dev, who describes Gunasekhar as a visionary, is thrilled with the director’s research and attention to detail. The magnitude of the research work that went into the script and designing various characters is inspiring,” he says, adding that the film is made for a pan-India audience.
Dev adds that Gunasekhar also helped him with the language (Telugu) which he was unfamiliar with. “At times, speaking lengthy dialogues in the film was a bit of a challenge. But again, as an actor that’s what you look forward to pushing yourself so that you can evolve,” says the actor.
